Introduction
« À la Carte » is a POS system designed for bars and restaurants.
It is composed of : - a cash register (e.g. a tablet at the counter) and optionally : - one or more remote controls (e.g. a waiter's smartphone) - one or more tracking screens (e.g. a tablet in the kitchen) Required material
The app is available for free on Android OS.
The software works on any device with at least Android 5.0. We recommend using tablets (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Tab A) for the cash register and the order tracking screens. For the remote controls, we recommend using smartphones. It can be those of your employees. Good to know : On some tablets, the font size can be really small. You can increase the font size by going to Android settings : → Display → Font and screen zoom Connection
For security reasons, all the devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
This prevents someone from placing an order if he is not physically on site. It also means that your employees and customers don't have to pay 5G fees to use the system. A good Wi-Fi coverage (with an internet connection) of your establishment (interior, terrace and kitchen) is therefore required. We recommend the use of a powerful router and, if necessary, repeaters. Configuration
When starting the app for the first time, please select :
→ I am … → A staff member → This device will be … → The cash register To place your first order, click on the « plus » icon at the bottom of the screen. To edit the menu, the list of tables or an order, click on the 3 dots at the top right and select « Edit Mode ». Good to know : As a new client, you can send us pictures of your menu. We will take care of entering it for you for free. Connect a printer
To print bills or receipts, you need to connect a Bluetooth thermal printer (e.g. Epson TM-m30) to the cash register.
Just turn on the tablet's Bluetooth and pair it with the printer (just like you would do with Bluetooth headphones). Connect a remote control
To connect a remote control, install the app on a second device (e.g. a smartphone) and verify that it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your cash register.
When starting the app, select : → I am … → A staff member → This device will be … → A remote control You will be asked for a security code. You will find it on the cash register. Click on the 3 dots at the top right and select : → Configuration → Security Code Allow self-orders
To allow your customers to order and pay with their smartphone, click on the 3 dots at the top right and select :
→ Configuration → PREMIUM Account → Self-Orders → Connect Good to know : In order to significantly reduce the bank fees, we highly recommend contacting Stripe to activate the reduced fees on microtransactions. Click on the 3 dots at the top right and select : → Configuration → PREMIUM Account → Self-Orders → Open → Reduced fees → Contact In addition to card payments, you can accept payments by Bancontact, Eps, Giropay, iDeal and Przelewy24. Click on the 3 dots at the top right and select : → Configuration → PREMIUM Account → Self-Orders → Open → Payment methods → Add You can print our table talker to let your customers know that they can place orders with their smartphone : → Configuration → PREMIUM Account → Self-Orders → Open → Table talker → Download It is also useful for displaying the Wi-Fi password and the table number. Access the order history
To access the order history, click on the 3 dots at the top right and select :
→ Configuration → PREMIUM Account → Dashboard → Open Tips and tricks
Here are some tips and tricks to make your system even more efficient :
1. Prefer small screens (e.g. a smartphone) for the remote controls With a small screen, you can take the orders with only one hand. 2. Choose the view that suits you best When you are placing an order, you can click on the « Views » icon at the top right and choose one of the 4 available views : - Details - Small icons - Medium icons - Large icons 3. Reduce the number of items and use complements Instead of 4 items : - Coca 25 cl - Coca 33 cl - Coca light 25 cl - Coca light 33 cl Prefer 1 item with 2 complements : - Coca → (Normal / Light) → (25 cl / 33 cl) 4. Do not put more than 20 items by category We even recommend a maximum of 12 items by category. This makes your menu cleaner and faster to browse. 5. Choose short names for your items Instead of : - Coca-Cola zero sugar Prefer : - Coca zero Or even better, use complements : - Coca → (Normal / Zero) 6. Use the filter system For example, on the cash register or the tracking screen, you can click on the « Filters » icon at the top right and uncheck : → Status → Ready Thereby, the orders will automatically disappear from the list as soon as they are ready.
